About the exhibition
Moti Penn started using the computer in his work at
the beginning of 2000.These works are based on photos he has taken in
junk-yards, mostly of agricultural machinery. He formulated a style by
means of which he has produced three-dimensional objects which
completely depart in their essence and form from the originals used to
develop the work. Each such original underwent transformations,
reproductions and various processing, out of which one example was
selected as the most representative and appropriate. The oil paintings
exhibited in the “Virtual Realism” exhibition were made from these
computer-processed printouts.
The paintings look like three-dimensional items taken from a reality the
likes of which do no exist in our parts. The artist endeavors through
them to test the power and significance of such virtual reality, which
by now has become so commonplace in the world of computers, the Internet
and the cinema.
The message conveyed by these paintings is not literary or rational. It
springs from the artist’s conviction that his work represents his
spirit, his emotions, his imagination and outlook. His hope is that this
message will also be communicated to those who view his works.
על התערוכה מוטי פן התחיל ליצור, גם באמצאות מחשב בתחילת 2000.
העבודות מבוססות על צילומים שצילם במגרשי גרוטאות, בעיקר של מכונות
חקלאיות. הוא גיבש סגנון שבאמצעותו ייצר אובייקטים תלת ממדיים, שונים לגמרי
במהותם ובצורתם מהאוריגינל שממנו התחיל לפתח את עבודת היצירה.
כל אוריגינל כזה עבר "מוטציות", שכפולים ועיבודים שונים שמתוכם נבחרה עבודה
אחת כמייצגת והמתאימה מכולם.
ציורי השמן המוצגים בתערוכה, צוירו ע"פ תדפיסים של עיבודי המחשב הללו.
הציורים נראים כאובייקטים תלת ממדיים ממציאות שלמעשה אינה קיימת בסביבתנו.
הצייר מנסה לבדוק בציוריו, מה כוחה ומשמעותה של מציאות מדומה זאת שהיא כה
שכיחה כיום בעולם המחשבים, האינטרנט והקולנוע .
המסר המועבר בציורים אינו ספרותי או רציונלי, מקורו בתחושת האמן שעבודותיו
מייצגות את מהותו, רגשותיו, דמיונו והשקפת עולמו. הוא מקווה שמסר זה מועבר
גם לצופים בציוריו.
